Water Twist (Hellion & Geo)

Post by Kyra »

The blue stallion jogged along the lakes edge, his head high and air of twister about him. His purple orbs sparkled with an impish intent. He knew his bond brother was following him, sure trying to say out of site, but failing for all his circular movements. Never a straight line, when trying to trail someone else. Rain was better at deception and hiding. He disappear into the bush as easily as a mirage, was it ever there?

The act of being trailed rallied his playful side and a cloud of water was sitting just above the tree line, to release its cold contents onto the gold and adamas stallion. Rain tossed his head in anticipation, he kept moving forward but kept his one eye on the tree line. A ripple of excitement ripples through him, giving his tail a very waterfall like resemblance.

The sun and silver stallion kept his form low, head low to pick his way over the fallen undergrowth. If he was to sneak up on his blue bond-brother, he have to make sure not to step on a twig. He was getting better at this, but as it came to Rain, Bounty, Traveler and Holly naturally; they never seem to have to concentrate on it, it was a challenge for him. His overcast eyes watched ahead to keep catching glimpse of lake blue amongest the trees and ground below. To surprise Rain once, would be such a great thrill.

His tail was a ghost trail at his rear, and his mane and tail little willow ol' wisps around his crown. He was avoiding the sunlit patches of forest floor, less his golden goat shine like the sun when the light hit it. He grinned finally, out of the forest his brother moved and all he had todo was get ahead of him to shock him still! Spindle picked up his pace and moved parallel and then moved to the lead. He found the spot launch out from.

Soon as he leaped into the air his a triumphant bugle, did he see at the same time the clouds way to low in the sky overhead. The overall picture was of a golden ghost bursting from the bush into a torrential down poor. His prank light was gone, and he shook his body sending water out in all directions like a sprinkler now having walked out from under the odd placed clouds. He rolled his silver orbs at the blue stallion, all cockyness flowing away with the water that he sent flying.

Rain watched the whole event with thrill and great joy! He had stopped the moment his bond brother had burst from the shadows of the forest. The roller coaster of emotion on Spindle part was picture perfect. He would keep those images forever. Unfortunately for the sun stallion, before they left the isle, the sun had caught his coat and it shown like a beacon. Giving away Spindle from the start. A torrent of laughter caught Rain at the roll of his bond-brothers 'so not amused' look. His playful gleam still hinting his dusk orbs.

Even though they’d been bonded for years, Hellion was wary of Geo. And it wasn’t what Web made it out to be, not a dressed-up way of saying ‘awkward’—she was awkward, and old enough now for grudging acceptance of simple facts. No, there was a difference: Geo made her watchful, but she couldn’t place why nor for whom. Just—something. Something about the mare who moved ahead of her like a soldier, straight through the forest’s dense brush like enemy lines.

But then, Geo had never much cared for her presence, either. They were seldom paired for anything, their skill sets and levels incompatible. Hellion still didn’t know exactly what Geo did for their Mistress, only that it made her little more than a ghost in their halls. When she was younger, she’d coveted that freedom—to go far, and be trusted to return.

She’d never made it to that. Always second fiddle, third wheel.

A branch snapped across her forelegs and she hissed. “How much far—”

“Half an hour, at our current pace.” Geo didn’t even turn to look at her, just raised her voice over the ruin of foliage. “I am considering this an exercise in discipline. Should you do the same, it may prove instructive.”

As if Hellion was a filly still, know-nothing and burdensome. Geo had come to them when she was just so—seemed the impression had never left her. But then, she was hardly around enough to make such assumptions. Hellion grit back the urge to tell her just that; it would only prove her right.

At least there was a break in the trees, further up, judging from the scant light she could make out past her companion’s folded wings. Another couple minutes of wordlessness and the breaking of branches, and they were clear—out onto the banks of a wide lake, and into the company of two other serians. A distance off, at least—Geo paid them little mind, setting off straight for the next grove. Hellion would’ve done the same, except—

“Spindle,” she said, without meaning to—softly, but enough for Geo to hear. The other mare paused, turned and looked at her for the first time, perhaps, since their journey had began.

“There’s no time for that.” It was a command, still, but her tone was—gentle, somehow. Gentle enough to startle her into turning away. “We have a ways to go, yet.”

True. Perhaps it was better, this way. He might not remember her; he might not
want to. And she—

Geo had turned away, started off, one moment of camraderie done and behind her as if it'd never been. Well, that was that. Hellion followed her lead. That was all she was really good for, after all.

The gold stallion stared in a none impressed glare at the bubbling brook Rain had turned into, however, a slight smile flicked at the corner of his mouth. In his time with his new bonded, he come out of his shell to a point. It seemed the blue stallion bond brother he now had, had made it his mission to bring out the colt in him. Which with all pranks that could only be watched and even when it was occurring to one, seem humerus. His creativeness for writing and how become a skill he would use to out wit Rain. He used his writing to brainstorm ideas and write key memos. He get his bond brother back good and look of shock and surprise would sweet.

Spindle tossed his head, sending water sparkling in all directions. He was focused on the stallion but three colors caught his attention and drew his focus to the background beyond his bond brother. Flaming red, with forest green and vibrant purple brought the sounds of storms to his mind. He did not know many serians other than his new and past bond family, but surely that combo could only belong to one mare...

His argent eyes lost their glare for Rain and filled with joy and confusion. Did she remember him? Should he run over to her, or yell a greeting...

Rain snorted as some of his bond brother spray flew into his nostrils, Hey I gave you the shower, I don't need the water back, he said in a joking tease. He was about to same something about good try but not good enough when he noticed the chance in the gold with silver tribal markings stallions cloud silver eyes. The glare was gone and he was clearly on cloud nine for all that he heard him say just now.

He turned his crown to follow Sprindle's gaze. Surprise and intrigue flooded his own dusk eyes. Two serians and from the lost look on his brother's face, he knew one or both of them. Lets go say hello, shall we, and moved into a brisk trot down towards the two serians.

Spindle was shifting his weight back and forth, his heart and legs saying to run like to wind to her, but his head was like how would that look. He was so reserved and solid before but he had changed... For the better he hoped... The blue blur entering his vision caused him to blink and break the tug of war in his mind. Rain! He burst into the canter to catch up. Well I guess this will be half way...

As Rain got closer to could pick up their scents and see they were both mares. Striking females at that. One looking like a forest caught on fire at dusk and the other a radiant royal blue crystal with her silver mane and tail, as well as her light blue paint patches. She be a jewel of the sea with those colours, if not for her wings, so a sky gem she was indeed. He whinnied a loud and cheerful greeting, Hello Ladies! as he had moved into a gallop and was shortening the distance between them

At the approaching clamor of hoofbeats, the greeting sailing true and pointed as an arrow, Geo stopped. Felt her assigned do the same. It had been too much to hope that they would simply pass unnoticed. She’d had to remind herself, before, just how gregarious many of her kind actually were—how much of an exception were those in her Mistress’ service.

Well, there were options to deal with such unforeseen irregularities. She’d employ the gentler tactics, first. Hellion knew one of them; unnecessary antagonization would only serve to complicate matters that were complicating enough.

She turned, then, as the lead stallion drew up to them—slender, at first glance, his coloring shifting down his coat, long in mane and tail. Delicate, even, but somehow—ah, that was it.
Elemental. The raw magic was impossible not to notice, moreso now that her Mistress had tethered one of her own. Caution had been the appropriate choice.

“Well met, sir Elemental,” she began, with a tone and nod that were almost genteel in their execution. She felt Hellion start, slightly—but the girl had never seen her at work. Well, a lesson it would be. “And to your companion, as well.”

She thought she heard a soft, “Hello, Spindle”, as the second stallion cantered up—gold and silver, this one, with almost the same fine-boned build as the Elemental, but no aura of power clung to him. And, nevertheless, he had managed something in his unassuming way, something that had shifted a softness into the girl at her side. Time would tell if it would cripple or carry her—Geo and Web had wagers on either side.

Leave the girl to her own heart, then; she’d handle the practicalities. She returned her focus to the Elemental, offering a thin smile. “I am afraid we have naught the time to dally. Our duty needs see us elsewhere by dusk-fall.”

Courteous enough, vague enough to suit her Mistress’ purposes. In truth, Geo was hardly privy to the reasons behind the demands that were made upon her. There was a time when she’d cared more about that, but—well, little do for it now.
