Bittersweet Forum Upgrade!

Post by Foxxfyre »

Hey all!

You may be surprised by the drastically different board appearance... folks who have visited in the last few months may have noticed that they could not post and lots of errors were popping up everywhere. The previous forum software version only runs on PHP5 and many hosts including mine have now deprecated that software. All of which means that I needed to upgrade to the latest version, which doesn't support the old forum theme ;___;

The current theme is temporary and chosen just because it has similar colors to the old one, but I might be able to tweak it to suit what I need. Either way, you'll see the forums slowly updating in appearance over the next month or so, but at least for now they shouldn't be broken anymore ^^

Sorry it took so long to get the upgrade done, I had to research the issue and then backup my backups so nothing was lost if everything exploded when I attempted the upgrade instructions ><

Luckily it all seems to have gone well an there are many new features I can play with, but let me know if you all notice anything not working correctly or missing and I'll look into it!!

The auto-delete in the Do Not Post Here seems to be busted, and the serian search is still down - but other than that it's looking like the "not blowing up" went well :lol: Glad to see things up and running again! Hopefully this means life is calming down for you a little bit?

Edit: Also, I don't know why my avatar isn't showing up, as it's there when I go into my profile settings... :?:

Well, now's a good time to design a new look, I do that sometimes with my website (well, not for a long time now, but I used to update my pages from time to time, ah, so busy...miss those schools days when I had a whole summer to muck around on my site). Glad the upgrade went well! It's always terrifying when doing things like that, never know whether everything will come out the other side.

Also, one other issue is that there's still that one annoyingly broken emoticon - the "oops." That's bothered me endlessly. If you don't like that icon, why not replace it with a different one while you're fiddling? I can't even remember what the blasted thing looked like!
